Much of his youth was spent drawing, painting and exploring the vast varieties of art. The more he learned and experienced and stretched his artistic wings, the more his love of art grew. While at college studying art and design, his expanded view of art fueled his passion to create even more.
As he learned how composition affects the feel and success of a piece, Todd also discovered that rhythm, flow, and movement add dynamics and draw the viewer's eye through a well-designed composition. This elevated the standards that he endeavored to achieve.
While dreaming of making art for a living, the reality of supporting his family required Todd to work at more mundane jobs. He never gave up on creating, but his dream had to wait until friend and artist Eric Hartman introduced him to renowned sculptor Ken Payne. Under Ken's gentle direction Todd was finally he was able to create art for a living. Years later he had the opportunity to buy Ken's foundry in Chinle, Az. Since then Todd has done foundry work for many artists, each one a valuable resource for improving his own art.
Life holds no shortage of inspiration for Todd. He finds it in the facial expressions and emotions of the subjects that he chooses to sculpt, the stories that he chooses to stir the imagination and come to life in a moment frozen in time. Sharing the joy of creating with those he meets, Todd is determined to continue to explore, learn, and create.
