A tree is a powerful symbol. It can represent protection and wisdom\, personify a human being or teach us about our past. ‘Family Tree’ is a body of work concerned with the idea of what a family is and how we are all connected. He graduated from university with an Arts degree in Economics and a Diploma in Education. He then taught high school and painted as a hobby\, but soon realized he wanted a career as an artist. \n“I’ve been pushing paint around for well over 40 years and still enjoy every moment of it- so it’s still a hobby\, I guess. My boyhood was spent exploring the rainforests of the Tweed Valley in Australia while stepping around snakes that basked in the midday sun. From 28 to 31\, I ‘taught’ myself to paint. It was the most frustrating period ever. I had no clue what I was doing and stubbornly sought no help whatsoever from anyone other than the deceased greats of the past.”\nHagan’s first art book on Australia came out about this time and he participated in many exhibitions from 1980 to 1988. In 1991 Hagan moved to America to paint the America’s Cup and while here plunged into thoroughbred horse racing and generally fell in love with the American West. \nRobert returned again to Australia in 1998 with his children\, the year his art book of paintings celebrating women and children titled\, “Cherished Moments”\, was published\, and began to play with the idea of video production. He was eventually able to combine his love of painting with his love of travel in several different TV series seen around the world. Author of 7 books\, Robert Hagan was also the originator/Executive Producer and host of his travel & painting series\, “Splash of Color” which was licensed in 2010 to Discovery HD and shown internationally in several languages. \n \nView Robert Hagan's Artwork URL:https://www.thesignaturegallery.com/event/wrangling-the-sun-robert-hagan/ LOCATION:The Signature Gallery Santa Fe\, 102 E. Nowlin in Scottsdale DESCRIPTION:Meet Star Liana York & B.C. Nowlin in Scottsdale\, AZ during the “Old World Meets New World” ArtWalk\nThursday\, April 13th\n6:30 – 9 PM\nBe among the first to view the new Spring collection from our internationally acclaimed artists Star Liana York and B.C. Nowlin during the Scottsdale ArtWalk. Enjoy an evening bridging the gap between the past and present with contemporary and traditional artwork\, refreshments\, and live entertainment. \nSTAR LIANA YORK\n Star’s source of inspiration for a significant part of her work comes from Native American and Western cultures. She sensitively captures their cultural identity\, whether indigenous or ranch life\, and celebrates them by preserving her observations through bronze. \nAnimals\, especially horses\, have been another source of inspiration. Since the purchase of her first horse in high school\, Star has been intrigued by the fluidity of line and mass of horse anatomy\, as well as by the animal’s fiery instincts. Star’s sculptural depictions of the horse are based on her interpretation of the equine image through history. \n[View Star Liana York's Artwork]\n  \nB.C. NOWLIN\nNowlin became something of a road warrior as an artist\, crafting a lifestyle of constant travel\, painting\, exhibition\, and chaotic experimentation with his art’s direction. \nB.C. Nowlin defines his art as “a border town journey”; and it certainly mirrors his cross cultural background. A native of Alameda\, New Mexico\, his family’s land formed the southern boundary of the Sandia Pueblo Reservation. Nowlin came of age steeped in experiences of vibrant Hispanic culture and Native Puebloan mysticism. \n[View B.C. Chester Armstrong‘s sculptures are charged with movement and emotion. “I carve to reawaken the soul of the viewer to the primal energy and life force of earth-based imagery. My sculptures move in the rhythm of circles\, spirals\, and flowing lines dictated as much by the grain lines of the wood itself as by my own sense of the harmony of the natural world.” \nOut of local Oregon woods\, (e.g. Juniper\, Maple\, Pine\, and Walnut) Armstrong carves the world he sees surrounding him… Eagles\, ospreys\, wolves\, cougars\, coyotes howling at the moon\, herons perched majestically at the river’s edge- the magic of life. “This is what moves me. This\, and the wild herds of mustangs that inhabit the west of my imagination.”  \n \nThrough extraordinary visual imagery\, Reid Richardson communicates profound visions of hope for the future and nostalgia for his youth. His distinct color palette\, subject matter\, and technique resonate with a growing audience. Having an appetite for self-exploration in a modern world\, his intention is to exploit the hidden meaning in the simple beauties of life’s nuances. His brush is attracted to creating bold images of poetic skies and surrealistic landscapes. His work has developed over the past years into a complex personal vocabulary of imagery that stirs emotion and engages the intellect. \n    \nVisit The Signature Gallery in Scottsdale\, AZ to meet J. Featuring our new painter\, DOYLE HOSTETLER\nThursday\, December 8th\n6:30 PM – 9 PM\nThe Signature Gallery \n7177 E Main St. Scottsdale\, AZ 85251 \n(480) 949-7003 \n \nFrom a small Amish town in rural Ohio to the mountains of Colorado\, Doyle Hostetler was immediately enamored with the tall pines and magnificent wildlife of the area. His subject matter has always been about wildlife and all of its beauty\, especially the big cats and hoofed animals of North America. In high school\, the Wildlife World Museum was just a bike ride from his home\, after winning an art competition he received a year’s membership and spent his free time admiring\, studying\, and sketching at the Museum. \nHis family moved to Arizona in 1983 where he started his career in Architecture and\, eventually\, into residential construction. Now after 30 years of commercial work he is concentrating on his own artwork. The illustration\, rendering\, and design have translated well into oil painting. The years of mastering values\, composition\, and drawing have been priceless. “My confidence grows with each canvas completed… fresh with a head full of ideas and a passionate yearning to turn loose my hands.” \nHis love of the west would magnify after meeting his wife. Spending summers in Colorado\, Montana\, and Idaho\, their son was a natural-born cowboy. The working ranch in Idaho was a favorite destination for the simplicity and raw beauty its remote location embodied. The Pacific Northwest has become like a second home as his brother lives in Astoria and his daughter is in school in Portland. \n“Living in Arizona has its own branding\, one can’t help being hypnotized with the colors\, the diversity in habitat and incredible wildlife!  The endless possibilities ignite the passion that fires the creative engine!” \n[RSVP for the Show]\n \nMORNINGS’ SILENT CHILL\n48″ x 48″\noil on canvas URL:https://www.thesignaturegallery.com/event/scottsdazzle-with-doyle-hostetler/ LOCATION:The Signature Gallery Scottsdale\, 7177 E.
