A self-taught artist, Avendano masterfully uses loose brush strokes and dramatic lighting to highlight the energy and gracefulness of the human figure. His collection features a strong Hispanic influence inspired by both large and small cities across Mexico. His most recognized and acclaimed subject matter, and the highlight of this ArtWalk’s show, is the flamenco dancers. He captures them perfectly, at the height of their performance, and at their most passionate. Additional fierce subjects include women in sombreros, musicians, and tango dancers.<\/p>\n

Avendano’s talents earned him the honor of being hired to paint the portraits of the last two presidents of Mexico, President Vicente Fox and President Felipe Calder\u00f3n.<\/p>\n
