Main Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85251.<\/p>\n<p>The works displayed in the \u201cCeramics on Fire\u201d show are created with 40 layers of a mixture of volcanic ash and metallic oxides. They are slowly fired to render a crusty appearance that takes six weeks to complete. Each vessel possesses a distinctly three-dimensional surface, with no two pieces exhibiting the same patterns.<\/p>\n<h2><em>Tapping the Fire Within<\/em><\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/chp-art.s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com\/randy-obrien\/200\/_artist.jpg\" alt=\"Artist at work\" width=\"170\" height=\"215\" \/> Randy O&#8217;Brien has been a full-time potter for over two decades. In his own words, he explains the fascination he has for working with this basic earthen material. &#8220;I find a lot of pleasure exploring the infinite possibilities in ceramics. My glazes are a three-dimensional surface. They add as much form to a piece as does the clay. I take my inspiration from the natural world.
