\r\nJoelle Blouin's passion for art dates back to early childhood. A lifelong resident of Quebec, her earliest memories are of accompanying her parents as they frequented local art galleries. It was during one of these very expeditions that Joelle realized she wanted to become a painter when she grew up!
\r\n
\r\nIn school Joelle was captivated by applied arts. Being naturally gifted, she excelled in the field and won several prizes along the way. Joelle feels it was this early recognition that gave her the confidence to pursue her life-long dream of painting for a living.
\r\n
\r\nHighly motivated and disciplined, Joelle learned the various techniques she uses in her art by experimenting and asking questions. A self-taught painter, Joelle found she preferred using oil paint and palette knife, mixing her oils directly on the canvas. The artist enjoys painting abstract pieces, preferring larger canvases as they accentuate the \"cubic texture\" of the cityscapes that have brought her the recognition she enjoys today. Joelle uses touches of gold paint to render a very particular light and sparkle to her work.
\r\n
\r\nHer first private viewing took place in early 2008 at a trendy pub in Old Quebec, Canada, where Joelle sold the majority of her paintings that same evening. Galleries in Quebec City and Montreal began featuring her work, and her paintings are now showcased in galleries across Canada. The Signature Gallery is pleased to be her first American gallery and we know our collectors will warm to her and the visions of the cities she portrays.
