I'm conservative with my brushstrokes, liberal with my paint, and constantly exploring new ways to approach my subjects. In that way I'm a constantly-changing artist, but with solid roots and ideals.
\r\nMy wife (Lorajean) and I, and our 5 kids live in Idaho where I've built our masonry house from the ground up by myself, and where we raise cows and some chickens, grow a large garden, and generally live a somewhat \"slow\" and old-fashioned lifestyle. I've often thought about what I would do if for some reason I couldn't be an artist, and then I'm reminded that nearly everything I do every day is part of this life of art that I've chosen.
\r\nPrimarily self-taught, I'm influenced by regional artists Valoy Eaton, Leconte Stewart, and somewhat by the Russian impressionists. I love fluid paint and an economy of brushwork.
\r\nMy goal with my art is to be both authentic about my reactions to the subject, and also to make something that will be interesting and thought-provoking to look at, both now and many generations from now.\"
