\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/em>Predominantly a landscape painting, Kirk can painting anything – and often does. \u00a0The Signature Gallery Santa Fe is spotlighting a new body of work by\u00a0this prolific artist.<\/p>\n

The beauty of Kirk\u2019s home ground, southern Utah’s red-rock country with\u00a0the Rocky Mountain vistas, has always stirred him. “I never tire of painting the red-rock vistas, Kirk says. Kirk feels that the skies in his artworks frequently set the tone for their overall mood.<\/p>\n

Kirk credits the two opportunities he and\u00a0son James had to paint at Edward Hopper\u2019s summer studio in Truro, MA, as \u201cdefinitely life changing” highlights of his career. Hopper had been Kirk\u2019s hero when Kirk was in college, and, when one of Kirk\u2019s collectors introduced him to the beneficiaries of the Hopper estate, Kirk and James were invited to visit and paint. \u201cIt was historic, glorious, and humbling,\u201d says Kirk. \u201cIt\u2019s a small but beautiful space with huge warehouse windows. The view is right up the Cape and out over big dunes\u2014it\u2019s a patchwork of color, right on the coast. I was awestruck.\u201d<\/p>\n
