After changing my place of residency several times, my family finally settled down in the beautiful city of Odessa in Ukraine by the Black Sea. As a child I got lots of attention and love from my parents. They were always encouraging me in all of my creative expressions. As a result I spent several years in musical school and the school of fine arts for children. I was lucky because I was able to taste the nectar of creativity so early, and intuitively I knew in the beginning what could bring me happiness and contentment. But when I had to make a choice I went to Architectural school and received a bachelor degree in Architecture and Fine Arts.
After practicing architecture for a few years in Ukraine and then in the USA (since 1992) I became miserable in the technical field of beams and concrete. I started to hear a very strange calling for painting. In 2001, I quit architecture and became a professional artist. My choice is not my career; it is my life, fulfilled and happy. I replaced my painting brush with pallet knife in order to create bolder, bright, and powerful images of nature, flowers, and people. My style is expressionistic impressionism. I'm not looking for a new style or new techniques to shock or amaze people. My focus is to capture intimate moments in ordinary life. No matter what I'm painting, a landscape or a little cafe in an old European town they should speak in the language of human feelings. I try to avoid creating pictures that are just pretty. Instead I want to communicate with people by evoking similar emotions and feelings in them.
