The Signature Gallery is thrilled to announce an exceptional two-woman show featuring the works of expressionist landscape painter Marlena Campbell and internationally renowned bronze sculptor Leah Poller.
Marlena Campbell is a local Santa Fe artist whose vibrant landscapes capture the spirit of life in perpetual bloom. A Master’s Degree graduate of Pepperdine University, Campbell found her true calling in painting and developing a signature style that breathes life into every canvas. Her work is characterized by bold colors, multidimensional layers of paint, and rhythmic brushstrokes that convey a dynamic sense of motion and vitality. Campbell’s textured surfaces, which are achieved by sanding back layers of paint, invite viewers to explore the tactile beauty of her art. Her expressive brushstrokes create a symphony of flora and fauna, reflecting her deep connection with nature and her desire to celebrate its endless dance.
Leah Poller, an internationally acclaimed bronze sculptor, brings a different but equally compelling narrative to the show. Trained at the prestigious Ecole Nationale Superieure de Beaux-Arts in Paris, Poller’s work is both thought-provoking and visually captivating. Her journey as an artist took a transformative turn following an accident that confined her to bedrest—this period of introspection led to her groundbreaking series “BED,” a collection of over 100 sculptures exploring mankind’s complex relationship with the bed in its many forms. Poller’s work is rich with humor, pathos, whimsy, and passion offering an exploration of a universal yet often overlooked aspect of human life. Her collaboration with the world’s largest bronze casting foundry in China has garnered international acclaim, with exhibitions in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, and notably, the Beijing Biennale of Female Sculptors, where she was the only American and foreigner selected to exhibit.
The opening reception is an opportunity to meet these two extraordinary artists and experience their works firsthand. Attendees will enjoy refreshments as they explore the vibrant, emotive paintings of Marlena Campbell and the thought-provoking sculptures of Leah Poller. This event promises to celebrate artistic expression and creativity, offering a unique blend of local charm and international perspective.
