About Us

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover."

Our Story

In 1973, Charles Pabst was preparing to marry Christine, the love of his life. He had graduated from university in fine art, fulfilled his obligation to Uncle Sam, and now had to figure out how to make a living. He thought about working for someone else – he liked business. But he had been selling his paintings since he was 14 and wanted more than anything to paint pictures and create his own business in the field of fine art. So in the beginning, he opened up a frame shop with a studio in the back where he could paint. He found that he mostly loved the painting part, so he quit the frame shop and just painted. And as his fame and success in painting grew, so did his family.
And he felt blessed.

So for 20 years he painted beautiful paintings and loved it, showing in fine galleries through the US. But he still had a desire to have a business. So with the support of Christine, he opened his first gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1997, showcasing mostly his own work. Pretty soon he outgrew the space and opened a larger space. He continued to expand and began featuring additional artwork from other great artists. His children had grown up in the art world, so some began to take a serious part in the operations, Mark in running the business end, and Cara and Michael painting beautiful paintings.
And he felt blessed.

With the success of the Scottsdale gallery, he wanted to branch out to other locations that he loved. What better than California where he grew up and New Mexico where Christine grew up. So in 2008 he opened The Signature Gallery in Laguna Beach and opened The Signature Gallery in Santa Fe in 2009, showing outstanding artwork from all over the world, as well as featuring regional artists from those areas.
And he felt blessed.
